Vestiaire is also notorious for pulling a bait and switch and trying to make customers consign counterfeit items. I don’t understand how these companies can just resell a fake bag knowing it’s not authentic. Or alternatively offering store credit rather than refund. Customers need to start reporting these fraudulent activities to the local fraud prevention department. Suing and getting a chargeback obviously gets you your money back. But it doesn’t deter these companies from passing the counterfeit items onto the next less knowledgeable customer. No one should be getting a replica for thousands of dollars. If it does happen you should immediately be offered the option of a full refund. The fake bags should be destroyed not resold.

TRR SCAM BE ON THE LOOKOUT- I’ve seen multiple Reddit posts from consignors who agreed to have items appraised for sale by TRR. They told sellers they would have the option to have their items returned if they weren’t happy with the listing price. This is in their policy. However many sellers have had items posted without their permission. When they request the item back they’re informed it’s been sold at a disturbingly low price. Sellers have also noticed items worth thousands of dollars being mislabeled and sold for $200 or less. The best guess is employees at TRR are purposely listing them incorrectly and buying the items themselves. To then sell them for a large profit. There are multiple lawsuits against TRR for this reason at the moment. I just wanted to add this comment for anyone considering consigning with TRR. It’s a scam they’re running so don’t get ripped off.

This is happening with all luxury resale sites. Another problem Ive heard from many customers is boxes arriving empty. But no refund being issued even with proof. There’s no way these supposed “authenticators” could have brand knowledge of such a wide range of products. It would take 20+ years to know how to authenticate all the brands they sell. On top of that to be able to differentiate between seasons when companies often change their heat stamps and logos. Or vintage vs contemporary products. It’s such a vast amount of experience and knowledge an authenticator of that magnitude would need to have. It’s irresponsible of them to say they’re able to authenticate in house. They should send it to a specialist in authentication instead.

I wonder if they are purposely selling counterfeit merchandise from China. There’s an option for vendors when you call the #, but I’m sure luxury brands are not partnering with their company.

This is why I’m scared to buy items of these resell luxury sites. My only thing is I would’ve took it to the store to get it authenticated. not sure where u live but I live in NYC so it would’ve been to me more confirming den a website to authenticate.

If you really like the item and it's not about brand for you, consider purchasing die hard, good Chinese copy. There are very good ones, that will offer you the exact same aesthetic, are well made and of good quality - for less than a fragment of price the original costs. I realize many people have their reason why they want original goods, but from my personal stand point no bag, shoes or piece of clothing is remotely worth the price tag. If I should ever have my heart set on designer item, I'd do my best to find good replica. Proxy sellers of used designer goods are playing with the fact that truly wealthy (who are not to be trifle with) are not their customers. And they abuse that fact, lacking respect and professionalism. Even openly scamming. The wording should be indicative as well - sugarcoated 'pre - loved'. It's used, or second hand and thus with wear/tear signs. Please, don't take my comment personally, it wasn't direct to offend anyone. Just my two cents.

I’m currently dealing with this. After a week of back and fourth they finally agreed it was in fact a fake. Fingers crossed the ending of this fiasco is almost over.

My mom’s friend went to a fabulous party in a cream wool jumpsuit that cost a fortune. She went to the restroom and the whole top fell into the toilet.
